A beautiful scenic drive through farms and cane fields in the shadow of Walsh’s Pyramid brings you to the starting point for the Behana Gorge track.

The Behana Creek Scheme supplies water to Cairns.

Walk through the rainforest along a sealed path for about 45 minutes to reach the stunning panorama of the Clamshell Falls.

Behana Gorge is close to Cairns and a popular spot for cooling off in the rock pools on a hot summer’s day.

 

The aboriginal name for Behana Creek - “Tringilburra” - means sparkling water.

The water indeed is sparkling and pure, providing drinking water to the city of Cairns since 1957.
