Peterson Creek

An enchanted forest and riverside walk awaits just on the perimeter of Yungaburra Town - Peterson Creek.

Peterson Creek, Yungaburra

Many visitors to Yungaburra pop down to the platypus viewing platform, hoping to see the elusive platypus as they pop up out of the water.

Cross the bridge and follow a trail that loops under the bridge.

The forest path follows the stream and gives lots of opportunity to spot wildlife.

On a recent trip the platypus were having their siestas but a lone tortoise was enjoying the afternoon sun, perched on a log.

Situated on the main highway between Yungaburra and Lake Barrine, The Gillies is almost a compulsory stop.

Attached to the cafe is Barbagallo’s Delicatessen. For an out-of-the-way location, this deli is a delight for food lovers.

The food is fresh and absolutely delicious.
